JOB SUMMARY:
Performs simple wiring and assembly operations on components, sub-assemblies,
systems and may assist in fabrication of major units under general supervision
JOB DUTIES:
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and op sheets
- Use color code for component identification
- Perform repetitive, preparatory and intermediate wiring functions on chassis, components and sub-assemblies
- Perform P.C. board repairs and solder touch-up
- May be required to make variety of cables and harnesses using wire boards
- May check work for connections, continuity, insulation and other electrical factors using ohmmeters, computer hardware/software and other electrical test equipment
- Soldering to military specification
- Prepares wires and/or components by cutting to length, tinning, bonding, and attaching terminals
- Solders plugs and sockets to cable wires
- Identifies wires, twists, sew, ties and laces and makes simple cables
- Solders and connects wires to exposed components such as resistor boards, plugs and printed circuit boards
- Performs non-precision mechanical assembly operations of electrical and mechanical components
- Utilize all hand tools necessary for the performance of duties such as wire stripper, pliers, tweezers, soldering iron, etc.
