Chevron Phillips Chemical LP (CPChem) is seeking a Product Development Technician for work in the Polymer Science and Product Development Group, a department of the Research &Technology (R&T) organization in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The Polymer Science & Product Development Group engages in Research and Development activities in the areas related to development of new and improved polyethylene. The Product Development Technician provides technical support to Polymer Scientists in areas related to product development and application research. This position will be for a day shift schedule. #HPCP
Responsibilities:
- Perform work following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and in compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations and procedures.
- Perform polymer processing including extrusion, compounding, blown film, cast film compression molding, blow molding, injection molding and thermoforming.
- Perform routine and non-routine tests independently in the laboratory.
- Perform data collection, charting, recording, and reporting. Occasionally, limited data analysis is required.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment regularly or as needed.
- Upkeep, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Safeguard processing and test results via good documentation practices.
- Monitor the inventory of essential laboratory supplies and order supplies and services in accordance to company policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. drum and roll a 600 lbs. liquid nitrogen or helium dewar mounted on wheels or stainless-steel cart.
Required Qualifications:
- High School/GED diploma and a minimum of 2 years higher education or relevant work experience.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision after initial on-the-job training.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high level of focus and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. An ability to work well with other group members, research personnel and customers in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of machine parts and adjustments and ability to read blueprint.
- Extensive processing experience in lab scale blown film, cast film and twin-screw extrusion.
- Experience in operating Capillary Rheometer and Rheotens.
- Experience in tear test, Dart drop test, gel measurement, Haze-Gard and Keyence Laser Microscope.
- Experience in gel measurement system (OCS), data management system (ELN), film thickness measurement.
- Experience in tensile test using Instron Model 68 TM-10, TA Q800 Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA) and Carver Press (Positive Pressure Mold).
