Your Day To Day
The Director of Supply Chain will lead the Supply Chain organization at our Kilgore, TX location, overseeing the strategic planning and execution of materials management, purchasing, logistics, and vendor management. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who will shape and optimize the supply chain operations to align with business goals and drive continuous improvement. The Director will manage a team, including materials management, procurement, and operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all supply chain functions.

The Director will manage a team, including materials management, procurement, and operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all supply chain functions.
You Will Be Accountable For
- Strategic Leadership:
- Drive the development of strategic goals for the supply chain, shaping the team and organization to align with company objectives.
- Evaluate and establish decision-making points when engaging with vendors, ensuring the most efficient and cost-effective strategies.
- Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of procurement and operations staff to grow the capabilities of the team.
- Vendor & Supplier Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and key customers to ensure reliable and timely delivery of materials.
- Lead high-level negotiations, including pricing, terms, and conditions, ensuring compliance with government regulations (DFAR/FAR).
- Team Development & Coaching:
- Assess team strengths and weaknesses, developing and implementing strategies to build bench strength and provide growth opportunities through coaching and mentoring.
- Metrics & Performance Management:
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, profitability, and supply chain performance, with a focus on on-time delivery.
- Analyze ERP system recommendations for material requirements and ensure continued alignment with business needs.
- Develop and monitor the performance standards, budgets, and schedules for the Supply Chain department.
- Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the supply chain.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, ensuring the organization adheres to relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Regularly interact with internal stakeholders and senior-level customer representatives to address operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and performance concerns.
- Ensure uniform best practices across departments to achieve maximum operational efficiency.
- Departmental Leadership:
- Provide direction and oversight for the procurement, customer service, shipping, receiving, and production scheduling teams, fostering collaboration and driving operational excellence.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and recommend changes to current ERP system configurations to ensure alignment with evolving supply chain needs.
- Develop new processes, policies, and strategies to enhance supply chain operations and meet department objectives.
- Take on additional duties as required to support organizational goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in supply chain management; or a Master’s degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years of management experience.
- Previous experience leading and developing managers within a supply chain function.
- Strong experience in high-level negotiations, including contract management, terms and conditions, and compliance with DFAR/FAR regulations.
- Proven experience in process analysis, continuous improvement, and applying best procurement practices.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions, particularly related to vendor challenges and their impact on manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and their integration into supply chain processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and external partners.
- Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans that drive improvements across supply chain functions.
- Expertise in developing and utilizing KPIs and metrics to drive organizational improvements and track performance.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with a focus on team development and talent management.
- Ability to think critically and analytically to solve complex supply chain issues while maintaining focus on operational excellence.
