YOUR DAY TO DAY:
The EHS Specialist will collaborate and assist management, supervisors and other teams in creating a safety culture and ensuring each employee understands their role in creating a safe work environment where individuals look out for one another. They will ensure that the facility meet and exceeds all requirements pertaining to all environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and programs including OSHA, ANSI, EPA, MA DEP & DPPS and any other pertinent regulatory regulations in order to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. They will provide pro-active leadership and guidance to all employees through actions and words.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Manage and implement all safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents, accidents and near misses and ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.
- Conduct, coordinate and track all EHS training to support company programs.
- Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and practices.
- Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including but not limited to air, storm water, surface water discharge and wastewater treatment plant.
- Ensure the company meets all its legislative compliance obligations with OSHA, ANSI, DOT, EPA MA DEP & DPS.
- Serve as primary contact for all regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting (air, water, waste).
- Maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and industry practices.
- Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
- Manage Solid Waste, Universal Waste & SPCC plans including inspections and corrective actions if necessary.
- Ensure that Environmental, Health & Safety documents and records are identifiable, controlled and maintained in an organized quickly retrievable manner, as well as timey submission to State and Federal agencies as required.
- Inspect hazardous material containers to determine compatible storage and operating procedures.
- Periodically reviews and updates hazardous materials storage requirements and performs audits of storage areas.
- Tracks hazardous waste shipping manifests to assure proper disposal and its documentation.
- Orders vendor services and co-ordinates pre-ship analysis; ensures proper state hazardous waste permits, vendor profiles, and purchasing requirements are in place.
- Performs groundwater/storm water sampling.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- BS Degree in appropriate discipline
- 2 years' experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for EHS
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Superior analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications
- Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred
- Possess or have ability to obtain Wastewater Treatment Plant Grade 4 operator's license
- Possess or have ability to obtain MA state hoist & forklift license
- Experience with Laser safety or radioactive material a plus
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office applications
- This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
