Summary of Primary Functions: The Millwright Superintendent manages Maintenance/Millwright crews They are responsible for overseeing daily mill operations, ensuring that the company`s needs are met. The supervisor utilizes available resources efficiently, while prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in all aspects of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products. Duties and responsibilities for our Millwright includes, but is not limited to:
- Troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial establishment.
- Perform alignments on motors, gearboxes, and rollers.
- Knowledge of grades and sizes of bolts, pipes, and tubing.
- Familiar with bearing installation and lubrication.
- Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts.
- Ability to weld and use a cutting torch.
- Use of precision instruments to align and measure equipment that is being installed or modified.
- Ability to use common power tools including saws, drills, and grinders.
- Knowledge of standard and metric size hand tools including wrenches, sockets, Allen keys, bits, and taps.
Experience:
- 4 years of Millwright experience preferred but not required.
- 3 years of Welding, Rigging, Conveyor Installation preferred.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Familiar with steam boilers desirable.
- Technical training in mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatic powered equipment.

- Direct and manage Maintenance/ millwright crews, making sure work is completed in a timely manner.
- Delegate jobs to millwrights based on their strengths and skill sets, ensuring the most efficient use of the team.
- Oversee the delivery and distribution of project materials, making sure everything arrives on time and is where it needs to be.
- Regularly inspect the work done by the crews, making sure it meets the company’s quality standards and the project's specifications.
- Help lead installations by interpreting blueprints and schematics, ensuring everything is assembled correctly.
- Quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues as they arise on-site, minimizing delays and keeping the project moving forward.
- Recognize potential safety risks and strictly enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
- Developing and managing detailed work schedules for crews to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Anticipating future resource needs, including manpower and equipment, and coordinating procurement to prevent delays.
- Conducting performance evaluations for millwright crew members, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues
Experience:
- 4 years of experience in a Maintenance/Millwright Supervision role is strongly required.
- 6 years of hands-on experience as a Millwright is required.
- Strong Communication Skill
- Ability to implement a Preventative Maintenance Plan.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excell
Key Competencies:
- OSHA 30-Hour General Construction Certification (optional)
- Advanced Mechanical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of machinery, equipment installation, and mechanical systems.
- Precision Installation Skills: Extensive experience with the precise installation, alignment, and assembly of machinery and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Advanced ability to quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues with equipment and systems.

- Leadership & Crew Supervision: Proven ability to lead and mentor millwrights, providing guidance and ensuring the team’s efficiency.
- Strong Communication Skills: Effective in conveying technical information to team members and coordinating with other departments or contractors.
- Rigging Expertise: Skilled in rigging practices for moving and installing heavy or oversized machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshooting Advanced Systems: Experience diagnosing issues in complex systems, such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated machinery.
