What are the responsibilities and job description for the Terminal Equipment Operator position at CPKC?
**About the Role**
We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at CPKC. As the only truly North American railway, we offer a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various terminal equipment, including shunt trucks, light-duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklifts, sweeper trucks, etc.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:**
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently to meet the needs of the business
- Host containers/chassis within the terminal to support train loading operations
- Perform general duties, as required, including pre-tripping perishable intermodal containers, building electric reefer container sets on railcars, plugging in reefers on the ground, and monitoring performance
- Conduct visual inspections and report on damages and defects of intermodal equipment
- Prepare railcars for proper loading of different-size containers by placement of pedestals and spacers
- Assist in securing containers once loaded to railcar (walking on railcar platforms, locking/unlocking IBC's)
- Update systems as required once work is completed
