ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER I 

As an Engineering Project Manager I, you will coordinate and manage the work of other professionals, providing practical, innovative designs for a variety of infrastructure projects. These projects may include water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment and collection, stormwater management, small roadway design, and site development.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager or Principal, you will work independently while overseeing the work of others. You will foster strong relationships with clients and provide guidance and oversight throughout all phases of the project. In this role, you will also serve as a mentor, teacher, and advisor to junior team members, helping to develop their skills and grow professionally.

As the Engineering Project Manager I, you will be responsible for managing multiple small to medium-sized projects of moderate complexity, ensuring they are delivered successfully, on time, and within budget.

What You Bring To The Table 

  • You earned a BS (and/or MS) in your field of expertise and at least eight (8) years of Civil Engineering experience, with a track record of developing proactive designs for a broad range of project types. 
  • Professional licensure (PE) is preferred. 
  • Thorough understanding of the foundational principles of engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes plans and specifications, as well as their application and relevance to public works and construction projects.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Water CAD, Sewer CAD or Civil 3D, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills, (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the building systems engineering discipline.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and juggle critical tasks, seeing them through to completion while maintaining high design standards and adhering to established project timelines.

CORE DUTIES 

  • Keep abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending beneficial changes.
  • Developing responsibility in nurturing leads, developing, and maintaining professional contacts, converting current projects into follow-on projects, bringing in new work, participating in proposal presentations.
  • Work with clients, consultants, and agencies to preplan project funding methods.
  • Project-related duties include management of both personnel and process.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives and coordinate all project efforts – both administrative and technical – to ensure the most gainful and cost-effective outcome of assigned tasks.
  • Establish short and long-term goals and create appropriate timelines for their completion, subsequently assigning specialized teams to accommodate related needs.
  • Schedule, lead and attend client vision sessions.
  • Develop new relationships and work to enhance existing partnerships.
  • Write project proposals, assisting in marketing efforts to grow CPL’s business.
  • Provide management of internal finances, including billing, invoice generation and asset/resource allocation
  • Perform quality assurance/control on others’ work, verifying methodologies, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Supervisory requirements including r ecruitment, retention and development of talent including:
    • Engage and foster the growth of CPL team members.  Provide encouragement and regular feedback; and serve as a mentor/example for all levels of the team.
    • Manage/oversee career conversations with your team on an established schedule (annual career conversations, regular check-ins, and the development of career plans for each team member).
    • Develop future leaders within the organization (train your replacement).
    • Engage, motivate, and lead internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and plans to move the organization in the desired direction. 
    • Influence people through effective communication  
    • Managing team member allocation and assessing the strengths of the project team to organize and regulate workload assignments.

The rate for this position generally ranges between $86K-129K annually.

Salary : $86,000 - $129,358
