SITE DEVELOPMENT PLANS EXAMINER I
This role is responsible for ensuring all project plans comply with the building codes and ordinances of the towns, cities and municipal clients for which CPL performs work.
As a member of the community team, the Site Development Plans Examiner is responsible for reviewing land development applications, construction documents and calculations that are submitted by, engineers, contractors and owners.

What You Bring To The Table
- BS (or MS) in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred
- Two (2) years of design experience in Civil/Site design or construction – or two (2) years’ experience as a Plans Examiner with a city and/or county agency
- Two (2) years of experience in civil/site engineering design or two (2) years’ experience as a Plans Examiner with a city and/or county agency (Civil/Site Plans Examiner)
- International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Plans Examiner is a plus
- Professional licensure (PE) is a plus
- Knowledge of site codes, related state regulations as well as civil engineering principles and practices as they pertain to residential and commercial sites
- A firm understanding of permit processing and tracking systems
- Ability to easily read and interpret plans and specifications, subsequently interpreting them in light of local government regulations and communicating your findings to engineers, contractors and developers
- Good interpersonal skills, communicating effectively both verbally and via written correspondence
- Ability to work well in a team-based environment, striving to achieve common goals with internal and external business partners
- Able to work on multiple priorities, organizing workloads to meet strict deadlines
- Examine plans, calculations and specifications for commercial, industrial, residential, public or other major developments to ensure compliance with applicable codes and related ordinances
- Advise Engineers, designers, contractors and developers on code and design requirements
- Meet and confer with applicants for permit processes
- Assist Inspectors with difficult or unusual code requirements
- Prepare and maintain records of plan checking procedures
- Provide support for permit processing personnel
