What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Underwriting position at cPort Credit Union?
cPort Credit Union is currently accepting applications for a Director of Underwriting. The Director of Underwriting is responsible for the management and coordination of the underwriting department, and for ensuring the profitability for the credit union. This position will report to the Vice President of Lending.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning and monitoring: Overseeing the activities of underwriting staff to achieve department goals
- Implementing processes: Establishing procedures and controls to improve the profitability of active accounts
- Developing philosophies: Creating and enhancing underwriting and risk management philosophies and controls
- Managing profitability: Ensuring business results and managing profitability
- Ensuring compliance: Working with the lines of business to ensure appropriate actions and timelines are being followed
- Coaching and mentoring: Working with the underwriters and branch staff to ensure consistency
Location
This position will be located in Portland.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree, and/or relevant certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
- Strong ability to develop relationships internally and externally.
- Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills
- Risked based decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent oral and written business communication skills
