- Opportunities for Advancement JOB SUMMARY Perform all required duties related to chemical and physical testing on samples of alloys, weld wires, or other process materials for purposes of meeting customer specifications. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the physical structure of castings.
- Read and interpret customer specifications, industry standards, internal quality control documents and work instructions.
- Create, coordinate, and control the requests for outside laboratory testing.
- Manage all material data, forms, reports, testing, and communication, as directed by the appropriate work instruction, both hard copy and computer based.
- Effectively use microscopes and their digital image analysis software programs
- Use excellent computer skills and communicate with Engineering to write effective metallographic formal reports and findings from cutups and evaluations.
- Section castings and make micros using the Met Lab equipment.
- Review and approve outside vendor results and certifications QUALIFICATIONS
- Education : A minimum of a high school diploma with a good mathematical and chemical background.
AS in Material Science preferred.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good verbal communication skills.
