Aerospace Quality Engineer Job Summary
Collaborate in a team environment to develop robust manufacturing processes and quality systems for aerospace and industrial investment casting markets.
Assess and interpret data to determine product acceptance to customer specifications both internally and externally.
Identify and address problems affecting product quality using standardized problem-solving approaches.
Take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional issues.
Primary Responsibilities :
Advance and maintain quality systems, procedures, and practices.
Develop and document quality work procedures and processes.
Review contracts for adherence with company standards and practices.
Ensure product compliance in conjunction with NDT level III personnel.
Oversee conformance and quality enforcement of the casting manufacturing process.
Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques.
Manage resolution of non-conforming material / processes.
Communicate with customers to address quality system concerns / inquiries.
Participate in customer / external audits and guide closure of actions.
Actively participate in continual improvement of processes and product quality.
Coordinate with the engineering team for relevant documentation and data submittal packages.
Review quality shipment documentation including certificates of conformance.
Work closely with other departments to achieve organizational objectives.
Use problem-solving tools and techniques to increase profitability.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communication.
Qualifications :
Education : BS in Engineering or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in quality systems and / or formal training in quality tools.
Certifications / Licenses : CQA or CQ Engineer preferred.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Basic engineering skills, application of statistics, computer applications, quality control, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP documentation, etc.
Working Environment :
Indoor working environment within various areas of a foundry facility / Office environment.
Physical Demands : Sitting / standing for extended periods, using a computer screen, keyboard, and mouse, and ability to lift up to 20lbs.
Travel Requirements : Occasional.
Required PPE : Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes are necessary in all areas of the plant.
