Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 annually, plus bonus
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to support and maintain customer operations nationwide. This hands-on role includes troubleshooting, servicing, and commissioning equipment at various client locations. As a critical member of our service team, you'll deliver high-quality technical solutions, prompt issue resolution, and outstanding customer support. Ideal candidates possess strong expertise in power systems and industrial controls, paired with a commitment to excellence in customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service Support:
Perform installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of power systems, electrical equipment, and industrial controls.
Commission complex power systems to ensure operational readiness and compliance with customer specifications.
Support system startups, programming, testing, and calibration of PLCs, SCADA systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
Conduct thorough system inspections and diagnostics, providing timely, effective solutions.
Customer Interaction & Support:
Serve as primary technical liaison during on-site visits, addressing customer inquiries and technical concerns.
Foster and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and partnership longevity.
Train customers on equipment operation and maintenance to enhance system management capabilities.
Document test results, service activities, and provide detailed system performance reports.
Ensure finalization and accuracy of "as-built" documentation and record keeping.
Operational Efficiency:
Coordinate with fellow engineers and internal teams to efficiently schedule service calls.
Accurately maintain service records, including work performed, inventory management, and time tracking.
Utilize remote troubleshooting technologies when possible to minimize equipment downtime.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to company safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and industry regulations.
Promote best safety practices, conduct audits, and participate regularly in safety training.
Maintain current certifications aligned with company and industry safety standards.
Ongoing Improvement:
Stay current on advances in power systems technology and industrial control methodologies.
Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Provide feedback on market trends, technical challenges, and suggestions to enhance service offerings.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
Certifications such as NFPA 70E, OSHA 30 are beneficial.
Experience:
5-7 years’ experience in field service engineering, specializing in power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
Expertise in commissioning, testing, and maintaining complex power infrastructures.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, circuit breakers, transformers, low/medium voltage switchgear, and protective relay systems.
Skills & Competencies:
Advanced technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in field service management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly explaining complex technical issues.
Self-starter with strong organizational and prioritization skills, capable of managing tasks independently.
Other Requirements:
Frequent travel with overnight stays nationwide required.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Familiarity with industry-standard testing equipment (multimeters, breaker test sets, protective relay test sets).
Ability to interpret and annotate electrical schematics, diagrams, and related documentation.
Extra Competencies:
Experience with low and medium voltage power systems and industrial control equipment.
Familiarity with system integration and programming of PLC, CAD, EPMS, and SCADA platforms.
Proficiency in generating detailed reports and documentation.
