About the Position
- Fort Collins-Loveland Water District, COCivil Engineer II/III: Transmission & DistributionCivil Engineers at the District are responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of water distribution systems. This includes managing all phases of assigned projects, such as budgeting, coordination, design, and closeout, while ensuring adherence to District policies and standards. The Civil Engineer II/III, Transmission and Distribution position will manage the design and construction of various water transmission and distribution, pump station, and storage tank projects under an Integrated Project Delivery model with early contractor engagement. This role will require active communication with project stakeholders, including public outreach, board presentations, and acting as the District representative during construction. Additionally, this engineer will support capital improvement planning, budget oversight, and coordination with other departments, while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Experience with managing projects under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model is highly valued, as the District seeks someone who can actively engage in the collaborative and continuous involvement of all project stakeholders from start to finish throughout our project lifecycles. Candidates should be able to hit the ground running, contributing immediately without extensive training. The candidate should have a solid understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, permitting, and construction contract management. Strong technical writing and communication skills, paired with the ability to solve complex problems independently and meet deadlines, are critical to success in this role.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Civil Engineer II: Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering experience including at least two (2) years of project management for the design of water systems is required.
Civil Engineer III: Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible engineering experience including at least five (5) years of project management for the design of water systems is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Water Resource Engineering or closely related field is required.Other Requirements: A current Professional Engineer (PE) from the State of Colorado or ability to transfer the license from another State is required. Must have a valid driver's license.
