Chief of Police
The Chief of Police is the Department's Chief Executive Officer, responsible for planning, organizing, and providing administrative direction and oversight.
Salary:
$60,000 - $80,000 per year
About this Role
This position is a member of the Town's Executive Team, lending professional assistance to the team. The Chief contributes to the development and implementation of the Town's goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and service standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Build trust and engage with staff, department leaders, town officials, elected/appointed officials, the community, citizen groups, public and private entities, and other stakeholders.
- Confer with citizens and town officials on law enforcement problems and challenges, and assist in developing innovative municipal law enforcement policies.
- Provide technical assistance to other law enforcement agencies and ensure responsive delivery of law enforcement services.
- Prepare and present the department budget, monitor compliance, and research funding alternatives, including writing grant applications.
- Hire and train staff, and establish a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with progressive advancement in a municipal police department or law enforcement agency.
- Postsecondary education is strongly preferred, but may be substituted with years of professional experience in supervisory capacity demonstrating leadership or leadership training.
- A valid Colorado class
