This vital role involves operating and maintaining the District’s Surface Water treatment facility to ensure daily water production. Key responsibilities include:
- Operating motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow into the treatment plant
- Monitoring and adjusting chemical treatments for water disinfection and clarification
- Conducting equipment preventative maintenance as per O&M manuals
- Recording and analyzing data accurately
- Ensuring plant security and performing additional duties as assigned

- One (1) year of related experience and/or training in operating a surface water treatment plant; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in reading and comprehending instructions, O&M manuals, and correspondence
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, clients, and colleagues
- Competence in water math parameters and common calculations (e.g., Square feet, Cubic Feet per Second, Chemical Dosage)
- Basic computer skills, including Spreadsheet and Word Processing software
- Valid Class "C" Driver License and Class "C" Water License
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions
- Frequent exposure to chemicals used in water disinfection
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and electrical equipment
- Moderate noise level, with appropriate PPE provided
