What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Process Engineer position at CPS, Inc.?
Our client company is a privately held Midwestern company that is a world leaders in polymer innovation and floor care technology. The primary focus of this company has been in floor care products but they have expanded their product line to create specialty polymers and resins for diverse customers in industries such as floor finishes, paints, concrete, plastics, detergents, adhesives, and printing ink technologies. They currently have an opening for a Process Engineer at their facility in the Milwaukee suburbs.
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing chemical operations and technical support for polymer and coating production areas. Will manage and execute smaller capital projects. Will occasionally work with chemists and operators to ensure successful product transitions during scale-up activities.
As a Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide chemical operations and technical support for polymer and coating production areas
- Lead process improvement efforts including debottleneck of existing constrained processes, optimization of same processes, efficiency improvements, cost reductions, safety and environmental improvements, waste reductions, introduction or new equipment and/or technology
- Manage and execute smaller capital projects from conception to implementation (projects could be anywhere from $10K - $200K initially)
- Assist with new product/process introduction activities, including production scale-up of new polymers, assimilation of new/revised processes into the manufacturing facility
Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 bonus

As a Process Engineer requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- BS Chemical Engineer
- 5 years of chemical plant experience (batch polymerization processes/plant is ideal)
- Previous experience as a Production, Process and/or Project Engineer
- Experience managing/executing smaller capital projects anywhere from $10K - $200K
- Any experience with PLC’s, and data acquisition systems would be a big plus
- PSM experience is preferred
