Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves driving quality improvements, managing quality assurance processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues. The Quality Engineer will take ownership of quality-related metrics, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to enhance product reliability and minimize defects.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of quality management systems (ISO-9001 : 2015) and quality assurance processes.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Proficiency in using statistical analysis tools and software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
ASQ certification (e.g., CQE) is preferred.
ISO Lead Auditor Certification is preferred.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance and Control :
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with ISO-9001 : 2015 standards and other relevant certifications.
Oversee and conduct internal quality audits and supplier audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Monitor production processes, identify quality issues, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and ensure timely and accurate documentation.
2. Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving :
Lead investigations into quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
Utilize statistical tools and techniques to analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategies for quality improvement.
Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving teams to address quality concerns and implement solutions.
3. Continuous Improvement :
Proactively identify opportunities for quality improvements in products and processes.
Develop relevant quality metrics and provide support to track and report out to the organization those quality metrics.
Lead and participate in Kaizen events focused on enhancing quality and efficiency.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and improve overall product reliability.
4. Supplier Quality Management :
Work closely with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards. Lead supplier quality audits, monitor supplier performance, and drive improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with the purchasing and engineering teams to address supplier-related quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
5. Documentation and Compliance :
Ensure all quality-related documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained according to company and industry standards.
Support product certification and auditing processes (e.g., UL, CE) by ensuring that all necessary testing and documentation are completed and well documented.
Manage and update quality documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
Support the team when needed.
Follows all policies and procedures of Occupational Safety and Health, Human Resources and Quality Department. Reports any safety deficiency to immediate supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
