About Us:
Children's Charity Diecast Museum, LLC will be a specialty museum in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of classic toys. Our collection specializes in vintage and rare items, with a strong focus on Matchbox and MOKO toys. We are looking for a part-time volunteer curator to join our team and help us manage and expand our collection.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the collection of vintage Matchbox toys, focusing on Lesney models from 1953 onwards and MOKO toys predating that era.
- Conduct research to authenticate toys within our collection.
- Assist with the acquisition and cataloging of new items to expand our inventory.
- Create engaging displays and presentations to showcase the collection to the public.
- Develop and host educational events or workshops on the history and significance of Matchbox and MOKO toys.
- Maintain an inventory database, including item descriptions, conditions, and provenance.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Lesney Matchbox toys from 1953 onwards and MOKO toys from before that period.
- Previous experience in managing a toy collection or similar experience is preferred.
- Strong research skills with an ability to authenticate vintage toys.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for vintage toys and a dedication to preserving toy history.
