The Roadway Inspector will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting roadway construction and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with FDOT standards, specifications, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil construction practices, materials testing, and field inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect roadway construction activities, including paving, grading, drainage installation, and signage, to ensure compliance with FDOT standards and contract documents.
- Monitor and document daily construction activities, material usage, and testing results, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Conduct field tests on materials such as asphalt, concrete, and soil to verify compliance with FDOT specifications.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Identify and report any deviations from approved plans and specifications and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all construction activities adhere to safety standards and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Assist in project management tasks as needed, including scheduling, quality control, and project documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in civil engineering or construction management is a plus.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in roadway inspection or construction, preferably with FDOT projects.
- Certification as a CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I or II, Earthwork Level I or II, or other relevant certifications.
- Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in using field inspection equipment and software.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation.
