Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 Annually DOE

Project Accountant

Job Overview:

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of specific projects within the organization. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Budgeting:
• Develop and manage project budgets in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.
• Monitor and track project expenses against approved budgets.
• Provide financial guidance to project teams to ensure cost-effective project execution.
• Financial Reporting:
• Prepare regular financial reports for project stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and variances from the budget.
• Communicate financial information to project managers and other relevant stakeholders.
• Cost Control:
• Implement and maintain effective cost control measures to prevent cost overruns.
• Analyze project costs and recommend cost-saving measures where possible.
• Billing and Invoicing:
• Generate and review project invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
• Collaborate with billing teams to address client inquiries and discrepancies.
• Financial Analysis:
• Conduct financial analysis on project performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Provide recommendations for improving project financial outcomes.
• Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Work with auditors to facilitate project-related audits.
• Cash Flow Management:
• Monitor and manage project cash flows to ensure adequate funding for project activities.
• Forecast future cash flow requirements for ongoing projects.
• Project Closeout:
• Coordinate financial aspects of project closeout, including finalizing accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure proper documentation and archiving of project financial records.
  
  

Background And Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or finance.
• Minimum two years of experience in accounting.
• Prefer candidates with any prior office/administrative experience or prior internships
• Perform work accurately and in a time-efficient manner, with strong attention to detail, organization, and follow through
• Strong computer skills, including solid skills in the Microsoft Office suite
• A basic understanding of accounting is preferred but not required
• Maintain a professional demeanor with co-workers and clients
