We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to partner with our owner and team at our independent restaurant in Asheville. This role requires a hands-on leader who can bring their experience and integrate with the team seamlessly. This role will drive operational excellence, foster a positive team culture, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Foster a professional, supportive, and positive work environment.
  • Lead by example in guest service, hospitality, and teamwork.
  • Establish and uphold performance standards for staff.

Operations & Guest Experience

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure high standards of service, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.

    • Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage budgets, payroll, and profit & loss (P&L) statements.
  • Implement cost-control strategies while maintaining food and service quality.
  • Analyze sales trends and identify opportunities for revenue growth.

    • Vendor & Inventory Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and oversee purchasing.
  • Ensure proper inventory control, ordering, and cost management.
  • Maintain consistency and quality in food and beverage offerings.

    • Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Collaborate on local marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
  • Engage with the Asheville community to strengthen brand presence.

    • Additional Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.
  • Perform occasional food preparation or service tasks as needed.
  • Arrange for facility maintenance, waste removal, and pest control.

    • Qualifications & Skills :

  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in restaurant management as a General Manager, preferably in an independent or high-volume setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Financial acumen , including experience with budgeting, payroll, and P&L management.
  • Excellent  communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Excellent  problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of  seafood and sustainable sourcing  is a plus
  • Familiarity with Asheville’s restaurant scene is a plus.
