What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Manager position at Craft Massachusetts?
The Freight Manager is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager of Craft Massachusetts in Everett, MA. The desired schedule is Monday through Friday 10am - 6:30pm on-site. The position manages a team of 5 full time Class A Drivers and is part of the Craft Massachusetts Operations Management Team.

What you will be doing:
- Oversee daily operations for internal freight drivers, including routing, scheduling, and sequencing of routes.
- Determine internal freight rates and ensure accurate billing to partner companies.
- Uphold safety, productivity, and Finish Product Loss (FPL) standards.
- Manage and maintain all freight department equipment.
- Foster effective communication both within and across departments.
- Handle payroll processing for the Freight Department.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for department personnel.
- Resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Plan and manage staffing needs for all Freight Department personnel.
- Ensure timely filing of insurance and accident reports.
- Maintain all DOT (Department of Transportation) forms and documentation to comply with random audits.
- Provide backup support for Craft Massachusetts supervisors, managers, and delivery staff as needed.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- 2 years of experience in freight management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Excel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Critical Physical Demands:
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as a computer keyboard and phone.
- Occasional stair climbing and walking on hard surfaces.
- Seasonal exposure to varying temperatures (30°F to 100°F).
