The Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is a community-focused athletic training facility and outdoor destination located on a lakeside campus in Craftsbury, Vermont. Your familiarity with and admiration for working and playing in a small and rural community will help the COC achieve our Mission:
- To support and promote participation and excellence in lifelong sports with a special focus on Rowing, Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon and Running.
- To use and teach sustainable practices.
- To protect and manage the surrounding land, lake and trails.
Position Summary:
As a Facilities Maintenance Team Member, you will work on a team that provides coverage 7 days a week and will support ongoing maintenance and improvement projects to the Center’s variety of buildings, machinery, vehicles, landscapes, trails, and other infrastructures.
Pay:
$21 per hour to start.
How to succeed in this role:
A high school diploma or GED coupled with a reliable and dependable work ethic are mandatory requirements to join our team. Your beyond-the-basics level of experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems will serve you well in a variety of challenging scenarios. You will feel comfortable working with a four day / 10 hours per day schedule. You will be available to work on our highest demand days, which include Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (alternating weekends may become a future possibility)
Major Duties & Responsibilities May Include:
- Attend weekly planning meetings that foster open communication.

Winter Tasks.
- Prep buildings for winter, chimney cleaning, maintain various woodstoves
- Close summer areas and prepare for winter.
- Plow snow in parking lots, roads, and paths and lay down sand.
- Clean and fire furnace and schedule routine maintenance.

Summer Tasks
- Mow and keep landscapes and grounds neat and free of debris.
- Maintain the docks and waterfront area.
- Keep the sculling launches in good working order.
- Assist housekeeping to keep outdoor decks and staircases in good repair and swept.
- Exterior building repairs and painting.
- Troubleshooting and routine maintenance of outboard motors experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Key competencies:
Respect, willingness to learn, exercise good judgement in stressful situations, organizational and communication skills.
Arriving on time for designated shift with minimal call outs.
- Driving:
Must have a clean driving record. Prior operation of plow trucks, tractors, snow machines, and PistenBully snow groomers is a plus.
- Physical requirements:
Must be able to stand for several hours. Must be able to occasionally lift 50lbs.
