Metal Fab Techs

Craftsmen Contractors is seeking Metal Fab Techs for a manufacturing facility in Minden, La. These are temp to permanent positions and you will need to do a face to face interview. You will also need to pass a criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Working day shift.

Pay is $14 - $20/hr. depending on experience. No per diem is offered.

Job Duties:

• Read and interpret metal fab and metal fab work orders
• Locate and arrange transfer of raw materials to work station areas
• Separate or bundle raw materials at work station in preparation for work application
• Manual mode saw cut standard raw materials to specified lengths, angle, and/or bevel
• Manual mode shear press standard raw materials to specified lengths, angle and/or bevel
• Layout and manual mode punch press specified holes or shapes per prints
• Layout and drill specified holes per prints
• Properly use grinders and basic shop hand tools to finish part fabrication deburring and cleanup
• Stage fabricated parts for further processing or transfer to production
• Complete documentation for metal fab work orders and turning in to shop Admin
• Perform basic cleanup and simple maintenance for shop equipment and work area
• Saw cut raw materials to specified lengths, angle and or bevel
• Read and interpret complex mf and mfp work orders
• Layout and cut holes or other shapes using automatic pattern torch and plasma cutter
• Use overhead crane for moving raw materials into and out of work station locations
• Set up and operate stun gun welder, performing and recording weld quality checks
• Assist material handlers with transport of materials to and from work stations
• Assist welders with set up of piecework for welding operations

Job Requirements:

• Have ALL PPE.
• Ability to ascend, descend and work overhead from a ladder and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel to apply paneling and to work overhead.
• Ability to use various hand and power tools and to lift up to 50 lbs. when moving materials on the job.
• Clear vision and ability to determine and distinguish color.
• Demonstrate basic math skills, mechanical aptitude read a tape measure.
• Read blueprints, communicate effectively, have good judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, comprehend and assimilate information.
• Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and interact effectively with all levels of employees. Must be a team player.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Will need to pass a criminal background check and drug screen (10-panel) and must do a face to face interview before being hired.
