Security Officer

Craftsmen Contractors is hiring for a Security Officer for the Minden, La. area. This position helps monitor premises to ensure security of entrance to facility. Other duties include patrolling and inspecting property to protect against illegal activity, vandalism and fire. Will help enforce laws on the property and deter criminal activity or other problems. This is a full time temp to permanent position.

Pay rate: $16.50/hr. - $20.90/hr. depending on experience and pay is weekly.

No per diem is offered.

Job Duties:

• Patrol buildings and property for an industrial manufacturing facility. You will need to check doors, windows and gates to assure they are secured. and help schedule tours of plant and grounds by vehicle or walking to ensure security, and watch out for conditions that could result in injury or loss due to fire, water leakage or spills.
• Inspect premises for signs of intrusion or interruption of utility service.
• Inspect alarm systems to assure they are in operating condition.
• Stand guard at the main gate an help monitor all entrances. Allow entrance only to authorized personnel and visitors and help open and close electronic gates to allow authorized individuals on and off the facility.
• Monitor for intruders, monitor security computers for control of access to secured doors and gates throughout the complex.
• Monitor silent alarm system and fire alarm system throughout facility.
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Write reports of irregularities.
• Check incoming and outgoing packages and, when directed, employee vehicles.
• Check transport trucks leaving the facility to insure proper paperwork.
• Help transport injured employees to medical center as needed.
• Report to supervisor and/or police any unusual or suspicious condition detected.
• Open and lock doors, windows, and gates based on the facility's plant operating schedule.
• Report to Supervisor any incidence of visitor, driver, or employee action, which could pose a risk of injury or loss to Company or employees.
• Help monitor and control all employees and non-employees on premises.
• Screen visitors and verifies appointments before allowing visitors to enter complex.
• Enforce parking rules. Monitor all vehicles entering premises to ensure appropriate parking stickers or an employee I.D. badge before being allowed on premises.
• Maintain daily log of all incidents/events and all outbound transport trucks.
• Complete incident and accident reports.
• Daily housekeeping of guardhouse.
• Assist Human Resources and Supervisors with employee issues as needed.
• Perform safety related duties as required, i.e. checking fire extinguishers, ladders, scaffolds, electrical cords, haz-mat generating and storage areas.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of alarm systems is a plus.
• 2 years of Security Officer experience preferred.
• Computer skills preferred. Must be able to monitor and operate access control systems.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Strong interpersonal skills required. Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of persons encountered on duty each day.Must be able to take charge and direct others effectively in emergency situations. Courteous manners in dealing with the public required.
• In order to respond to emergency situations, must be mentally alert, emotionally stable and physically fit.
• Able to patrol buildings and grounds throughout facility by walking or driving a company vehicle.
• Walk during patrols and long periods of sitting while monitoring front gate and security cameras. Must be able to tolerate exposure to weather conditions during tours.
• Work alone for long periods of time, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Show good judgment and common sense, follow directions and directives from supervisors, and follow company policy and guidelines.
• Must possess a professional appearance and attitude.
• Will need to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.
• Will need to interview face to face for this position.
