Craig-Hallum Capital Group is seeking a qualified candidate as a sell-side Equity Research Associate to join our Minneapolis team, within the technology sector. The successful candidate will work directly with the Senior Research Analyst on many aspects of the research process including building and updating financial models, performing financial analysis and due diligence, writing investment-driven research reports, developing and fielding industry surveys, and other types of industry analyses and competitive assessments. The associate will have broad exposure to company management, investor conferences, and the process that is involved in making investment recommendations. Ideally and just as important, candidates would also be highly motivated and passionate about stocks, and also very interested learning about new industries, companies, and the above listed sector. Keen attention to detail and the desire to excel are critical character traits of a successful candidate.
Specific responsibilities include:
Financial model building and updating, competitive analysis, market research, and company research. Candidates must be knowledgeable and proficient in working with financial statements and have the ability to construct income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow. Develop financial models to forecast growth and profitability opportunities for publicly traded equity investments. This includes financial statement analysis, historical and projected, profitability metrics, margin analysis, and various ratio analyses. Perform valuation analysis such as discounted cash flow analysis, dividend discount models, and other valuation calculations including, but not limited to, earnings, sales, cash flow and tangible book. Assist Senior Analyst with compilation and evaluation of all relevant research and information pertaining to equity investment ideas, their respective markets and their competitors, customers, suppliers and any other entities which might have a meaningful impact on a company's financial outcomes. Relevant research and information comes from a variety of sources including company filings and meetings with company management, financial news sources and government and industry organizations. Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial models, analyses and archives. Provide summary of earnings conference calls to Senior Analyst to assist in evaluating recent company performance. Disseminate information to internal departments as applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Strong academic credentials
-Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
-Demonstrated proficiency and experience in financial and ratio analysis
-Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
-Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, with particular expertise in Excel & Word
-Strong verbal and writing skills
Desired Qualifications:
-2 years of related investment experience or work in the finance industry
-Knowledge of and experience using Factset and Bloomberg
-Demonstrated knowledge of financial markets
-Ability to aggregate and interpret large data sets via web research and other research tools
-Knowledge, interest or background in the technology sector; enrollment in the CFA program; and/or FINRA licensing are strong pluses
