POSITION SUMMARY
The Hospital Operator & Screener is an unlicensed medical role specifically operating within the protocols established for the operation of the CISCO phone system, emergency situation communication and hospital information desk, screening humans for possible infection utilizing individual questionnaires, a brief exam consisting of a non-contact temperature measure, and general appearance according to the protocols. This position does not require the establishment of medical care and treatment for affirmative responses to the questions or temperature checks as the protocol specifically addresses these issues on a case-by-case basis.
This position is Saturday and Sunday from 2:30pm - 10:00pm.
Rate of Pay: $18.50 - $26.64 per hour based on experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of direct health customer service or retail experience preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Excellent organization and customer service skills. Outstanding written and oral communication skills, Ability to work independently but also collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Ability to present self in a personable and professional manner. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Ability to deal with diverse and confidential information with discretion and good judgment. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Gather, analyze and synthesize information and data from multiple sources. Ability to intake multiple pieces of information from multiple sources, prioritize and summarize in a clear, concise and accurate manner to all appropriate stakeholders. General computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greet, inform, direct and assist patients, families, visitors and vendors, modeling exceptional customer service and an energetic, welcoming "face of Craig".
- Operate CISCO phone system. In a timely manner, answer all incoming calls, answering questions of calls according to hospital policy and direct calls to the appropriate department.
- Facilitate emergency procedures, including paging and communicating with Administration.
- Facilitate emergency procedures by appropriately reading emergency panels and alarms in the Information Desk area and following appropriate policies and protocol. Keep up to date on any changes to emergency procedures.
- Notify Engineering and/or Safety/Security immediately when alarms or equipment malfunctions or when unsafe conditions occur.
- Administer medical questionnaires directly to hospital staff and visitors.
- Administer and interpret the temperature of an individual using non-contact thermometers according to manufacturer's instructions and CDC guidance for personal protection.
- Monitor and maintain social distancing standards per protocol.
- Monitor inclement weather alerts.
- Responsible for money drawer, cab vouchers and apartment keys.
- Track and report cases of positive and negative responses according to established protocols.
- Don and Doff Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required within the protocol for performing medical screening.
- Communicate with staff in-person, via email, mail and phone, responding in a timely manner.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments, telephone calls, visitors and correspondence.
- Maintain personal health information (PHI) data in a manner compliant with Hospital HIPAA requirements.
