Nurse Practitioner - Outpatient Clinic

Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Nurse is a licensed independent practitioner who provides care to Craig Hospital Outpatients utilizing a neuro-rehabilitative focus.  The Advanced Practice Nurse follows the standards of care as outlined by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses’ Association (ANA)Code of Ethics, and Craig Hospital policies and procedures.  The Nurse Practitioner prescribes medications for outpatients as per privileges permit.
 
The Outpatient Nurse Practitioner serves as the team leader for re-evaluation services for SCI outpatients and follow-up care for SCI and TBI outpatients. 


Position Requirements:

Training and Education:

• MSN (nurse practitioner track or post master NP certificate required)
• Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing
• A Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required
• Prescriptive Authority (or eligible for)
• National certification required
• Specialty certification preferred
  •    CWOCN certification preferred
• Member of the Colorado State Board of Nursing Advance Practice Nurse Registry
• Current BLS certification through the AHA ; Healthcare Provider course

 
Required Licenses:

• Current Colorado Nursing License
• Member of the Colorado State Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Nurse Registry
• DEA licensure (when eligible)

Experience:  

• Five (5) years RN experience required
• Previous experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse or previous nursing experience with SCI and TBI patients required. 

Essential Functions:

• Practices according to the ANA Code of Ethics
• Uses AANP Standards of Practice and Hospital Policies & Procedures to guide practice
• Perform SCI focused History & Physical examinations and clinical evaluations and documents findings in medical record
• Formulates and Implements treatment plan, collaborating with the OPC physician, consulting physicians and team members as needed
• Orders and interprets assessment data and diagnostic tests and determines a plan of care
• Orders consultations and referrals
• Orders pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies
• Establish goals of care with patient, family and team members
• Collaborates with the OPC team to assess and allocate staff resources based on patient needs
• Takes a leadership role in promptly addressing patient and family issues
• Maintains accountability for your own professional growth through educational opportunities, networking opportunities, organizational expectations, self evaluations and peer feedback
• Provide leadership and education in maintaining the Magnet Culture
• Completion of History and Physicals for new-to-system patients in the Interdisciplinary Outpatient Evaluation (IOE) schedule.
• Collaborative participation with team members regarding pre-assessments of Craig Hospital's outpatient BI program.
• Participation in transitional planning with In-to-Out Craig patients.
• Completion of clinic checks and follow up for outpatients in the BI program.
• Participation in team rounds, patient, and family conferences.
• Participation in BI Outpatient program development as needed.

Salary Range: $51.96/ Hour - $74.83/ Hour
