A little about the position:
As a Service Writer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our service department. You will be responsible for coordinating service appointments, communicating with customers, and assisting technicians in diagnosing and repairing trucks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the industry.

Here in Fairbanks, we are building a brand-new, state-of-the-art building! With spacious bays, great lighting, and up-to-date technology, you will be able to have all you need in your workspace. Our equipment shop will be located right next door. There is even a coffee shop located on the property nearby that you can walk to grab a quick cup of joe if you get a coffee craving

Some of the duties of this position:
- Greet customers and provide them with information about our services.
- Open work orders and document description of symptoms in sufficient detail to provide technician with information necessary to efficiently perform service work.
- Verify warranty contract coverage and explaining provisions and exclusions as necessary.
- Schedule service appointments and manage the service department's workflow.
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and concerns regarding their trucks.
- Create detailed service orders and accurately document all customer interactions.
- Communicate effectively with technicians to ensure they have all the necessary information to complete repairs efficiently.
- Keep customers informed about the status of their vehicles and provide updates on repair timelines.
- Coordinate with parts department to ensure timely availability of necessary parts and materials.
- Facilitate parts ordering & delivery to keep technicians on the wrench.
- Researching and recommending correct parts/equipment for a given job.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain accurate records of service transactions and customer interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills for success:
- Previous experience as a service writer or in a similar customer service role, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of Peterbilt trucks and their maintenance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, such as MS Office and automotive service management systems.
- Willingness to learn and stay updated on new technologies and industry developments.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in automotive service management is a plus.
Our job requirements:
- Able to work 40 hrs per week.
A little about the physical requirements:
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Team members must be able to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis and be able to stand for long periods of time. Bending, lifting, and pushing will also be required.
