Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Grapple Visiting Vehicle Officer (GVVO) at Johnson Space Center, TX. The candidate will be assigned to the US Segment Visiting Vehicle Group within the Flight Dynamics Division at NASA Johnson Space Center. This position is for a Flight Controller to the International Space Station (ISS) and/or Artermis Programs within the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). The candidate will first train and then attain certifications for a Mission Control console positions.
Detailed Description:
The VVO’s interface with Visiting Vehicle partners to ensure safe ISS rendezvous and proximity operations for docking vehicles (HTV, Cygnus, Dragon, Dreamchaser, and CST-100). Other responsibilities include:
- Provide rendezvous and separation systems trajectory expertise for docking and grappling vehicles
- Interface with the visiting vehicles control team during planning and real-time operations
- Enforce ISS and visiting vehicle performance, telemetry and procedures
- Coordinates visiting vehicle approach and departure activities

Position Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree or anticipate graduation within the next 6 months in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering (ABET). Previous experience in real-time spacecraft trajectory operations and analysis, orbital mechanics, rendezvous trajectory analysis and operations, and/or spacecraft GN&C is highly desired. This is an entry-level position. Preferred position related experience is 0-2 years. This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.
Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is essential. Previous experience with or course work in basic engineering, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft flight dynamics is desired. Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills are mandatory. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to progress through flight controller certifications.
Candidate is required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination and pass security clearances. Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) is required. Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically or internationally. Russian or Japanese language skills are a plus.
