Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Vehicle Operations Integration (MAVRIC) at Johnson Space Center, TX. Seeking a candidate with experience for a position that is part of the team that supports the Vehicle Integration and Daily Operations Branch, supporting the Flight Operations Directorate, Operations Division. Members of the Vehicle Integration and Daily Operations Branch work closely with other FOD organizations, Flight Directors, International Partners, and other NASA organizations and centers to plan ISS operations and future program development.
Detailed Description:
.Flight controller responsible for monitoring key systems and operations of the visiting vehicles approaching and mating to the United States segment of the International Space Station (ISS). Integration and Systems Engineer (ISE) Flight Controllers focus on the US Visiting Vehicle systems which interface with the ISS and assist in verifying the safe operation of the vehicle relative to ISS. The ISE Flight Controllers support the integration of the visiting vehicle flight control teams that are located remotely both pre-flight and during real-time ISS operations, as well as provide a systems expert for vehicles within the ISS Flight Control Team.
The successful candidate will support human spaceflight operations by assisting with monitoring key systems and operations of the visiting vehicles (both cargo and crewed) approaching and mating/docking to the United States segment of the International Space Station (ISS). Additional duties will include: (1) Integrating multi-system/multi-vehicle operations during mission planning and real-time operations, (2) Providing operational and mission safety related inputs/perspective to visiting vehicle mission planning, (3) Developing ground and on-orbit procedures and operational documentation, and (4) Preparing console support products and internal ISE Group documentation.
Work & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or anticipate graduation within the next 3 months in an ABET accredited program. Past experience integrating across multiple areas, leading teams, negotiating win-win solutions, working well in the team environment, and customer service is required. Attention to detail is required along with the ability to successfully work/negotiate on a daily basis with multiple customers across NASA, the Commercial Providers, and the ISS International Partners. This position requires strict adherence to deadlines, as well as, excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must be able to effectively communicate and understand complex technical and operational issues as they relate to both the ISS and Commercial spacecraft. Knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is essential. Previous engineering industry experience and/or project management is required. Experience with mission operations (i.e. Mission Control Center (MCC), Air Operations Center (AOC), or Liaison Office (LNO)) is highly desired.
Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) may be required. Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically or internationally. Successful candidates are required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination and be able to apply for and successfully receive and maintain a security clearance per eligibility requirements.
