Position Summary
The Warehouse Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring efficient operations within the warehouse environment. This position is responsible for managing inventory, fulfilling orders accurately and timely, and maintaining quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Material and Inventory Management
Inspect the condition and quantity of all receipts, verify contents and counts, and document discrepancies.
Record packing lists for material received.
Prepare, receive, and retire material tickets for line crew and contractors relating to work orders and storm damage.
Perform monthly cycle counts of warehouses and transformers to ensure material accuracy.
Report material reorders and count discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
Organize and maintain inventory and office supply levels within the warehouses and prepare shipments.
Material Fulfillment
Prepare material charge-out tickets issued from the warehouse.
Distribute material related to work orders, service orders, transfers, and truck restocking to crew members.
Issue and deliver material to field crews and branch offices.
Prepare packages for online shipping for warranty or tool repair.
Maintain documentation related to transfers, material charge-out tickets, and returns.
Assist branch offices in loading jobs and material charge-outs.
Assist personnel with the requisition process related to broken tools and equipment.
Other Related Duties
Perform annual warehouse inventory.
Assist with building maintenance as needed.
Repair and maintain line tools.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of warehouses, storage yards, and all equipment in the warehouse.
Recommend improvements that can be made in practices, methods, processes, and procedures within the area of this job responsibility.
Will properly use and keep in good condition all tools and equipment.
Attend safety meetings.
Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the electric utility industry and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) specifications.
Knowledge of material, purchasing, and inventory management.
Skill and proficiency in the use of computers, copiers, calculators, and Microsoft Office Platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Skill in analytical and critical thinking for analyzing complex problems, evaluating options, and developing resolutions.
Ability to use various tools and equipment relevant to the area of this job responsibility.
Ability to learn and apply Rural Electrification Administration (REA) and RUS specifications and standards.
Ability to prioritize the completion of multiple, time-sensitive tasks, and meet deadlines.
Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.
Ability to communicate in both oral and written form with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to understand, interpret, and observe Craighead Electric policies, procedures, programs, and safety rules and regulations to effectively carry out job duties.
Special Requirements
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Will be subject to 24-hour call out.
Will be placed on an On-Call warehouse rotation.
Ability to obtain Forklift Certification within two (2) months of employment.
Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within six (6) months of employment.
Working Conditions and Mental or Physical Requirements
The following characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and work near moving mechanical parts. Work is generally performed indoors and occasionally performed outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is moderately low. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; continuously lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
