Assistant Director – Extended Care
Kingswood campers explore Cranbrook's 319-acre campus of playing fields, woods, rivers, lakes, and gardens. They participate in a full schedule that includes swimming, music, sports, drama, arts, yoga, dance, science, nature, archery, canoeing, and tennis. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Hire, train, manage, and evaluate staff
- Meet budget requirements
- Purchase supplies
- Setup and breakdown camp spaces
- Develop and operate program
- Act as main contact for parents regarding all aspects of the camp other than financials
- Maintain accreditation and licensing standards and rules
- Create and maintain policies for program
Qualifications Required:
- A Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Education or a related field
- Management and childcare experience
- Superior problem-solving and management skills
- Ability to effectively relate to campers, staff, and parents
Preferred: Prior experience in any of these areas: Camp Administration, Camp Program experience, Child Development, or Performance Development.
Timeframe: June 9 to August 10; Weekdays only except first and last. Must be able to work the entire length of camp.
Please Note: Assistant Directors are year-round employees. Pre-Season (January – May) and Post-Season (September – December) involve minimal hours spent working on updating camp programs, interviewing candidates for the summer camp season, and exploring professional development offered by the American Camp Association. Work hours during the camp session (June – August) are 40 hours per week, generally 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Wage: $20.00 per hour.
