Cranbrook Educational Community is accepting applications for a Human Resources Coordinator. This position will process and follow up on new hire/termination/status change paperwork and complete background checks for all new employees. The Human Resources Coordinator will provide new hire orientations for employees as assigned, provide assistance with the recruiting process, and provide administrative assistance to the Human Resources Department through general clerical, administrative, and support duties. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills; high-level office and computer proficiency skills; attention to detail; accuracy in working with numbers; and the ability to work independently on special projects and to work well with colleagues. The Human Resources Coordinator must also have a demonstrable record of handling confidential information in an appropriate manner.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Process new hire paperwork, complete background checks, coordinate new hire orientations, and ensure onboarding training is completed.
- Conduct new hire orientations for part-time and temporary/seasonal employees.
- Process/distribute completed new hire/status change/termination paperwork for all employees including accurate data input into the HRIS system.
- Maintain and update the HRIS database and produce various reports as requested.
- Collect job bid forms from Represented employees, notify the appropriate hiring manager of the bids, and prepare and send award notification when the job has been awarded.
- Assist in administering the COBRA Notification process.
- Assist in auditing HSA, Retirement and Tax-Sheltered Annuity contributions as requested.
- Administer Unemployment claims and payments in collaboration with Assistant Director of Human Resources.
- Post jobs on external job boards as directed.
- Review application materials for completeness, discrepancies and red flags, and communicate with the hiring manager.
- Update Department of Education School Employment database annually.
- Assist Sr. Human Resources Generalist with various reports and updating of training lists.
- Answer incoming telephone calls fielding questions relating to current job openings and other general inquiries.
- Maintain CEC employee (personnel) files, including filing, purging, preparing for long term storage, etc.
- Process requests for employment verifications, fingerprint records, and unprofessional conduct forms.
- Prepare Purchase Orders for the Human Resources Department.
- Process invoices and deposit checks as needed.
- Serve as back-up for Cranbrook House front desk, working from front desk one day per week (or more as necessary).
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all employee-related issues, files, information, and paperwork inherent to the Human Resources function.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ experience providing high level administrative support which demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility and accomplishment required, preferably in a Human Resources department.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required with a focus on providing excellent customer/constituent service.
- High proficiency in Word, Excel and database management is required. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. Experience with an HRIS database is preferred.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work independently on special projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information is required.
- The ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks with deadlines is required.
