Instructor – STEM Day Camp
Cranbrook is excited that it is one of a handful of camps in the nation offering STEM camp modules developed by the Edgerton Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As Cranbrook continues in its relationship with MIT, we are proud to be able to offer such a remarkable opportunity for your child through our day camps.
Each module is a week in length and is offered when available. Modules include App Inventor, Digital Game Design, Electronics Engineering and Design, Techno Threads, Rocketry, Eco Detectives, Physics of Photography, Kinetic Sculpture, Energy Engineer, Advanced Electronics, Underwater ROVs, 3D Printing, and Skitterbots. Duties: Interact with families and campers (boys and girls, grades 3-7) in a positive, nurturing and enriching manner. Create and execute fun and engaging lesson plans and develop materials required for specific activity content and present them for approval to the camp director in a timely manner. Oversee all assigned activities and supply inventories for the activity area. Supervise and manage all campers to ensure consistent engagement and safety for each camper during the activity. Provide enriching and creative growth experiences within the camp activities.
Qualifications: High school diploma; experience in activity; teaching experience; certified in activity or be open to early training (if applicable); superior problem-solving skills and ability to relate with campers, staff, and parents.
Preferred: Currently attending or graduated from college; camp employment experience.
Timeframe: June 9 to August 10; Weekdays only except first and last. Must be able to work the entire length of camp.
Wage: $17.50 per hour.
