Crandall Medical Center, a long term skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located on the beautiful campus of Copeland Oaks, is hiring a part-time Life Enrichment Assistant to work in our Activities Department.
The Life Enrichment Team Matters as they provide education opportunities, networking, recourse exchange and individual peer support to Crandall residents. Our Life Enrichment Team is vital to the well being of our residents. This position works between 16 and 24 hours per week on afternoons/evenings and rotating weekend shifts.
We are looking for an outgoing, energetic, multitasking, compassionate person to lead programs and help with spontaneous individual activities focusing on dementia symptoms and behavior needs while encouraging and engaging residents in individual and group settings. The ideal candidate will also be a CNA in the State of Ohio or be willing to become a CNA.
Essential Functions of the position:
- Lead individual and group programs, both inside nursing home and at outings.
- Read trivia, poetry, reminiscing stories, and other literature to residents.
- Participate in assessment and documentation of residents' needs as directed.
- Notify supervisor of equipment and supplies needed.
- Transport residents to/from activity groups.
- Help to maintain attendance records.
- Set up activity areas, puts back when program is over.
- Maintain equipment and put equipment and supplies away daily.
- Assist in feeding of residents during group activities and outings.
- Assist in toileting residents on outings only.
- Assist with transport and transferring of residents.
- Assist resident in self initiating individual routine.
- Monitor and/or replace individual routine supplies when needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
Professional Experience/Educational Requirements:
- Experience working in long-term care preferred but not required.
Certification / Licensure:
- Ohio CNA certified preferred but not required.
- Mepap I approved Activity course, preferred.
