What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Coordinator position at Crane Consumables?
Crane Consumables is a local, family-owned manufacturer of bar code, pricing and packaging labels. We are in need of a individual who is reliable and self-motivated to ensure freight orders are shipped correctly and on-time by coordinating the paperwork and flow of material through the shipping process.
This incumbent is expected to learn and understand the product being shipped, the processes of the shipping and warehouse areas, and freight carrier processes. The team requires a person whom they can rely on to make sure the shipping area continues to run efficiently and smoothly overall. The ideal candidate will have solid attention to detail and experience scheduling carrier shipments.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Reviews production schedule for any orders that require immediate shipping.
- Collects completed product purchase orders from Production areas and presses. Takes special note to find recently completely work tickets that are not on Production Schedule but need immediate shipment. Reviews to confirm product is ready to ship.
- Sorts and distributes purchase orders for processing of shipments.
- Reviews customer purchase orders for daily shipping, taking note of shipping requirements.
- Enters order information into shipping log and updates Production Scheduling system.
- Contacts customers as needed to obtain missing order or shipping information.
- Creates packing slips, Bills of Lading and other documents for orders being shipped today.
- Uses third party service to obtain freight quotes. Reviews carrier quotes for lowest pricing and best shipping option. Schedules freight carrier pickup for product shipments.
- Provides excellent customer service. Answers customer inquiries regarding shipping status, tracking information, and current product availability.
- Recommends improvements to shipping and warehousing related processes. Implements changes as needed.
- Reviews status of open orders with Production Scheduling. Makes delivery date and order adjustments in LabelTraxx. Provides updated information to customers' history.
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in shipping logistics with emphasis on processing shipping-related paperwork, including experience working with trucking/logistics companies.
- Experience with Google Docs and Sheets
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrative proficiency in counting and basic math calculations to determine weights/product counts
- Strong work ethic, excellent attendance and consistent employment . Employment is subject to background and drug test.
- Ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment.
- Problem solving/critical thinking skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs consistently, and maneuver up to 1,500 lbs with a hand truck, and climb ladders
Core hours are 9am - 5pm, but shift can vary based on carrier scheduling.
In addition to base pay, the company provides substantial quarterly bonus opportunity after 3 months of service.
