Job Overview
Crane Equipment and Service, Inc. is seeking an experienced individual with a technical background to fill our Fabrication Production Supervisor.
Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and assembly departments, ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership skills and a focus on quality control, timely delivery, and continuous improvement in the fabrication and assembly process. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electrical and mechanical assembly, with the ability to guide a team to meet production goals while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and supervise a team of fabricators, assemblers, and electricians in the daily operations of the fabrication and assembly process.
- Assign tasks, monitor work quality, and ensure compliance with safety standards and production schedules.
- Provide training and mentorship to new and existing team members on fabrication, assembly, and electrical systems.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous improvement and adherence to company standards.
- Oversee the fabrication and assembly of electrical and mechanical components, ensuring that all parts and assemblies meet specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials and accurate assembly of parts.
- Implement and monitor production workflows, ensuring efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Manage and prioritize work schedules to ensure all tasks are completed on time, in line with production deadlines.
- Monitor daily performance, tracking output and ensuring efficiency targets are met.
- Address any delays or bottlenecks in production and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in fabrication, assembly, and electrical work
- Foster a culture of innovation and accountability within the team to drive productivity and cost reductions.
- Lead or participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and suggest enhancements for reducing waste and improving production efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) aligned with ISO standards, aiming for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, quality inspections, and safety reports.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on production status, challenges, and progress on improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all production documentation is up to date and compliant with company requirements.
- Review and enforce adherence to quality documentation, work instructions, and standards.
- Conduct regular quality checks and audits of fabricated components and assembly processes.
- Enforce strict adherence to company quality control procedures to minimize errors and defects.
- Implement corrective actions for non-conformance issues and track improvements.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Full-time position, with occasional overtime as needed to meet production deadlines.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, and electrical systems, including 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- In-depth understanding of fabrication processes, including welding, machining, and assembly work.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematic diagrams, and mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
