Crane Equipment and Service, Inc. is seeking an experienced individual with a technical background to fill our Quality Control position.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality are maintained throughout the fabrication process. This role involves inspecting, testing, and documenting fabricated components to ensure they meet industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality benchmarks. The Quality Control Technician will work closely with production teams to address any non-conformance issues and provide feedback to improve processes and maintain product integrity.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished products, including fabricated parts, painted surfaces, and assembled units, to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) and visual inspection methods to check dimensions, finishes, and structural integrity.
- Document and report non-conformances or defects, working with the production team to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Measure welds, seams, and connections for strength, precision, and quality.
- Monitor tolerances, fit, and finish of fabricated products, ensuring conformance to customer and industry specifications.
- Maintain and update inspection records, test reports, and quality control documentation.
- Ensure that all inspection data is accurate and timely, adhering to internal standards and customer requirements.
- Complete inspection certificates and other required documentation for shipments and internal audits.
- Create and file quality inspection reports to be reviewed by supervisors and management.
- Compile data for analysis and performance tracking of quality trends and issues.
- Collaborate with the production team to review and optimize production processes for better quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Assist in developing new quality control processes, work instructions, and best practices to enhance product consistency and reduce waste.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
- Assist with the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control processes
- Assist with the development of quality-related training materials and support onboarding for new employees in the QC department.
- Identify quality issues in production and work with team members to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track the resolution of non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions to ensure effectiveness.
- Maintain clear and open communication with production, engineering, and management teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
- Prepare and present quality reports, including analysis of defects, trends, and performance metrics to management.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Overtime/weekends can be required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of [7] years of experience in quality control, preferably in a fabrication, paint, or assembly environment.
- Associate's degree or certifications in Quality Control or a related field preferred. High School diploma or equivalent plus experience in Quality Control.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Quality Management Software.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and experience with audits and documentation management.
