Summary: Supports Service and Materials departments by performing the following functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Enters facility service orders.

· Ascertains make, year, and type of part needed, inspects worn, damaged, or defective part to determine replacement required, or advises customer of part needed according to description of malfunction.

· Discusses use and features of various parts.

· Reads catalog, microfiche viewer, or computer for replacement part stock number and price.

· Places purchase orders for service orders

· Process UPS receiving and shipping

· Advises service on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.

· Examines returned part to determine if defective, and exchanges part or refunds money.

· Marks and stores parts in stockroom according to prearranged system.

· Reviews Service Orders prior to invoicing for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments.

· Invoices service orders.

· Assists with Service quoting – parts pricing

· Will be required to assist with scheduling service personnel when required.

· Backs up Purchasing Manager

· Takes inventory of stock

Must have good communication skills. Required to have excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple items at one time.

Working knowledge of crane business preferred.

Experience as a Crane Service Technician with ability to diagnose Mechanical and Electrical problems.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or over eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and on the phone with customers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Must type 40 words per minutes and learn in-house software, use Groupwise, Microsoft Word and Excel.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
