Job Title:      Welder – Intern Position

Job Type:     Part - Time

Location:      N. Chesterfield, VA

Cranemasters is a full-service railroad contractor providing specialty lifting, emergency response, track maintenance, load adjust and manufacturing of specialized and customized equipment for the railroad industry.

Ensures that all activities are carried out in a safe, effective, professional, and efficient manner to protect employees and the assets of the Company.  

Essential Functions:

1. Open to individuals currently enrolled in welding or fabrication courses through local community colleges or technical trade school.
2. Position is part time, 5 hours per day, 25 hours per week and not to exceed 30 hours.
3. The primary focus of the position is the practical application of the continued education courses in a hands-on environment.
4. Will report directly to 04 Chesterfield Manufacturing Department Weld foreman.
5. Works to complete assigned tasks timely and accurately while following all Cranemasters build standards. Documents all work tasks and ensures that documentation is legible and understandable.
6. Ensures that all safety rules/regulations are followed.
7. Ensures that tools and other equipment are maintained in a neat, orderly fashion.
8. Actively participates in team-based work assignments ensuring timely completion of repairs/maintenance.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Required Travel:                   Minimal – 5%

Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Foreman, Weld Department

Required Skills and Experience:

1. Education to include High School Diploma/GED or trade school.
2. Drive for achieving results and ability to convey a sense of urgency when appropriate.
3. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
4. Strong communication and organization skills.
5. Able to read, write and speak English

Physical Demands:

1. Constant bending / twisting / stooping / walking / talking / sitting / standing / kneeling / climbing / bending / carrying materials/parts
2. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
