The Human Resources Generalist (Multi-State) will support and manage HR operations across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. This position will play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture, managing employee relations, overseeing benefits and payroll, and supporting organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and the ability to adapt HR strategies to meet diverse regulatory and workforce needs.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations:
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees across all locations.
- Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and promote a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
- Investigate and resolve workplace issues in compliance with state-specific laws and company policies.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Ensure the company adheres to all federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., wage and hour laws, FMLA, ADA, and state-specific paid leave).
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including I-9s and EEO reporting.
- Monitor and implement changes in labor laws across all states.
Payroll and Benefits Administration:
- Collaborate with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure accurate and compliant processing for employees in different states.
- Manage multi-state tax requirements, unemployment insurance, and other payroll-related needs.
- Oversee state-specific benefits programs, such as paid family leave or disability benefits.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Coordinate hiring efforts across multiple states, ensuring compliance with local hiring practices.
- Create and execute onboarding programs tailored to regional and remote employees.
Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs that meet the needs of employees across various states.
- Ensure compliance with state-mandated training requirements (e.g., harassment prevention).
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Draft, review, and update company policies to include state-specific addenda.
- Communicate policy updates effectively across all locations.
HR Reporting and Metrics:
- Generate and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.
- Provide insights on turnover, engagement, and other workforce trends by location.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist, prefer experience with multi-state responsibilities.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of federal and multi-state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws).
- Experience with multi-state payroll, benefits, and tax administration.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in HRIS (Paycor is preferred) and payroll systems.
Preferred Competencies
- Familiarity with remote workforce management.
- Experience creating and managing an employee handbook with state-specific addenda.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Hours of Operation
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM
