Position Summary

Join our partner firm Cranston, as the Regional Operations Director in Charleston and lead the charge in driving our ambitious growth plan. In this pivotal role, you will build and guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with our broader company objectives. You will integrate corporate policies into daily operations and foster a cohesive office culture. Collaborating closely with corporate management, you will implement region-wide initiatives and strategies. Additionally, you will spearhead business development efforts, pursuing new opportunities and positioning our team to win more projects, thereby increasing our market share. Your leadership will be crucial in overseeing the delivery of projects for city, state, commercial, and private clients, making a lasting impact on the region's infrastructure and development.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop the commercial vision and support business plans to drive the region's growth, leveraging a strong understanding of the local marketplace, competitive landscape, and opportunities
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Operations and local teams on the development and implementation of local marketing and growth strategies. Enforce the application of marketing best practices and ensure the office is actively working toward meeting business plan goals and objectives. Stay apprised of key/strategic opportunities for the office and ensure pursuit compliance with Company business development practices
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and other business functions. Develop relationships with local leaders from key teaming partner firms and take active leadership roles in professional organizations at the local level. Support office in developing strategic teaming partnerships and subsequent agreements.
  • Support the development of office-level budget plans to support the regional business plan and encourage strong analysis for growth in an area or discipline.
  • Assess and anticipate the organization's talent needs to best understand current and future leadership gaps and bench strength, and then design and implement a comprehensive leadership development strategy to meet current and future needs.
  • Ensure the profitability of the regional office and its projects using company best practices for project management
  • Measure and monitor budget and operational performance and communicate key metrics and information regularly to the leadership team
  • Ensure the office complies with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies/procedures.
  • Ensure the flow of communication within the office and region, through regular meetings, written communications, and informal communication, to ensure the effective sharing of critical information, efficient decision-making, team engagement, and collaboration.
  • Maintain client communication in coordination with other offices and ensure satisfactory client experience, project production, and Quality Assurance / Quality Control procedures
  • Maintain a stabilized business and office culture. Engage and inspire the team, with a focus on sustainable growth through recruitment, retention, professionalism and professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or a related field; a master's degree can be an advantage.
  • 15 or more years of experience in Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline engineering/design teams - preferably with civil, structural, or landscape architect experience.
  • Ability to foster and nurture the "One Cranston" culture based on company core values.
  • Ability to set and execute a strategic plan for office and regional growth and fostering accountability managers.
  • Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude, in administration to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate teams for technical work and to obtain cooperation from others.
  • PE or RLA required.
