The Director of Nursing Programs is a 12-month Faculty position that is directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and program compliance with SACS standards as well as maintaining full approval through the North Carolina State Board of Nursing and the National League of Nursing (NLN) programmatic accreditation for both the Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs. These responsibilities require leadership in workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals; directing and participating in educational planning; program organization; staffing, training and supervision of both full-time and part-time faculty; evaluating program faculty and student performance; motivating and advising students; clinical site development and partnerships; managing the fiscal and financial resources of the programs operations and goals and generating reports as needed. The Director teaches as designated by the Dean.

Ensures compliance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing and NLN accreditation requirements to maintain quality and integrity of nursing programsRecruits, hires, and evaluates full-time and adjunct nursing facultyCreates, maintains and assigns the course schedules for all ADN and PN nursing classesEnsures availability of current and consistent course guides and syllabiSelects and recommends instructional materials and equipment pursuant to established departmental budgetsUpdates the Dean of Health Sciences on challenges, issues and concerns of the Nursing programs and area health care providers and suggest opportunities for the College to continuously enhance its service in NursingEvaluates and revises all processes and policies related to Nursing, including but not limited to admissions, testing, attendance and conductEstablishes and maintains a positive, effective working relationship with students, staff, faculty, institutional representatives and other stakeholdersSecures and maintains clinical affiliations with area health care facilities and ensure student compliance with pre-clinical requirementsPerforms basic faculty functions including curriculum design, development, and evaluation; teaching; identification and assessment of appropriate student learning outcomes; student advising; and institutional and professional serviceReviews and edits Student Handbook annuallyPromotes community awareness of program opportunitiesSeeks opportunities to market the Nursing Program to individuals, groups, and industry leadersParticipates on college committees as requestedPerforms other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals
