The primary role of a Workforce Development Welding Instructor is to focus on academic excellence, student success, and encourage lifelong learning. This is accomplished through working collaboratively with College stakeholders to support the mission of the College. Instructors ensure the quality and integrity of the College’s academic programs through teaching, student learning and professional development.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Implements a comprehensive curriculum for welding courses according to the standards of National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)Conducts theory and practical welding classesAssesses and evaluates students' welding skills and knowledgeEnsures all students adhere to safety protocols and proceduresProvides hands-on training in various welding techniques and processesMaintains and supervises the use of welding equipment and toolsStays updated with the latest advancements in welding technology and practices provided by NCCERDemonstrates and uses technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience Modifies, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needsPrepares students for welding certification examsOffers individualized guidance and support to students as neededOrganizes and supervises lab sessions and practical projectsCollaborates with industry professionals to support possible employment opportunities for those students’ completing coursesFacilitates workshops and additional training sessions as requiredCreates student NCCER accounts, profiles, documents and tracks students' progress and performance according to NCCER guidelinesCommunicates with the NCCER coordinator as neededEnsures a clean and organized instructional environmentParticipates in departmental meetings and professional development opportunitiesWorks with other Workforce Development welding instructors to maintain classroom and lab continuityParticipates in appropriate committees and task forces as assignedProvides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone, and emailPerforms other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals
