Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tour Guides to join our team. The ideal candidates will be passionate about sharing information on local ecology and history, while engaging with diverse groups of people. As a Tour Guide, you will lead groups through various locations, identifying flora and fauna, while ensuring a safe experience for all participants. Strong communication skills, time management abilities, and a customer service-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.
Hours are greatly dependent on the weather. More hours would be available to Guides willing to pick up tours for guests calling on short notice. However, being on-call isn't a requirement. Scheduling is flexible.
Duties
- Instruct on land paddle lessons and have guests sign waivers.
- Lead guided tours through designated locations, sharing historical and cultural information with guests.
- Engage with visitors by answering questions and providing additional insights to enhance their experience.
- Manage group dynamics effectively, ensuring that all participants feel included and informed.
- Utilize public speaking skills to deliver clear and engaging presentations.
- Educate guests about the significance of various sites, properties, or wildlife encountered during the tour.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Avoid habituating wildlife to humans (no feeding, respect their space). Remove trash and fishing lines when safe.
- Collaborate with team members to improve tour content and delivery based on guest feedback.
- Bring back the same number of guests you left with.
Experience
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- At least 18 years of life and a valid DL.
- Willingness to learn! There is a boat trailer and stick shift. Experience is still preferred.
- No kayaking experience is necessary, but it is preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Welcoming qualities that inspire confidence and engagement among tour participants.
- A genuine interest in history, culture, land management or nature.
