Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate to join our Catastrophe Services Roster as an Independent Adjuster. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough field investigations to evaluate damages, determine the scope and loss of all types of residential property losses or other assigned losses for moderately complex to highly complex residential claims. Also responsible for negotiating settlements while maintaining high production levels and meeting client expectations. and ensuring that claims are processed efficiently and fairly. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a thorough understanding of insurance policy interpretation, relevant laws and regulations. This is a W-2, Non-Staff role with the ability to select assignments that are best suited for you.
Responsibilities
- Examines the client claim forms, policies, endorsements, instructions and other records to determine coverage.
- Uses knowledge of property and construction to conduct onsite inspections of property damage, photograph damages to depict and substantiate losses to establish appropriate loss estimates and reserves based on client &/or Crawford required processes. Maintains expected case load and high service standards and adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
- Investigates claims, obtains necessary information from experts when applicable such as architects, engineers, builders, construction workers, and others to assess the extent of the loss fully and accurately. Works cooperatively with attorneys, public adjusters, and Crawford and/or client file examiners as well as leadership as needed to conduct investigations, confirm findings, support evaluations and control claim costs.
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by Crawford. Maintains accurate, thorough field notes, journal entries, as needed. Prepares accurate, and thorough reports and letters to insurance carriers on conclusions and recommendations. Ensures the accuracy of information collected and reported to guard against fraudulent claims.
- Maintains company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
- Upholds the Clients as well as Crawfords Code of Business Conduct at all times
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and upholds company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
Experience
- ·Three (3) or more years’ experience resolving moderate to overly complex daily residential & commercial property loss claims are preferred.
- Three (3) or more years handling moderate to overly complex weather losses for residential & commercial property losses.

Special Requirements/Certifications:
- Must be a licensed adjuster as required by state and local laws.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Job may require travel overnight via commercial transportation or driving motor vehicles to any office locations where the Company does business, or other locations to conduct/attend training, conferences, meetings, and/or seminars
- May be required to work additional hours, overtime hours, or non-standard hours, including varying work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as the operation dictates
- Strong PC/laptop skills to include a claims or appraisal system such as Xactimate
- Carrier/Client laptop will be provided to qualified applicants that meet Crawford & Company's Background Check, Motor Vehicle Record, and Drug Screen requirements once deployment begins.
- Ladders are not provided and must be owned and operated by you.
- Must have a carrier specific certification or be willing to acquire one through Crawford.
Compensation: Hourly rate based on experience.
