The Emergency Medical Technician responds to both emergent and non-emergent calls while providing both pre-hospital and hospital patient care that is within scope of practice and training.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responds promptly to all request for patient care as directed.
- Completes documentation and records according to the department and state policies.
- Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times.
- Performs assigned duties in the Emergency Department under the supervision of the Emergency Room nurse, Paramedic, and/or Supervisor.
- Maintains a good working relationship with fellow employees, community volunteer providers, hospital staff, physicians and other allied health professionals.
- Attends and completes all required safety and annual training requirements.
- Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Complete annual education requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wear identification while on duty.
- Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.

- Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
- Current state EMT certification.
- One year of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
- Current certification in CPR, American Heart Association Healthcare provider or
- Must be a licensed driver.
