What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Support Specialist position at Crawford County Mental Health Center?
Crawford County Mental Health Center is taking applications for a full-time qualified Adult Peer Support Specialist, responsible for delivering support/services to assist mental health consumers to cope with psychiatric symptoms, use natural resources, live successfully independently in the community and move forward in recovery.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must self-identify as a present or former primary client of mental health services and be at an adequate state of recovery from psychiatric symptoms such that he or she can be helpful to other clients
- Requires a Level 1 Peer Support certification, certification is not required to apply but will be required shortly after hire date
- Must have strong organizational skills along with effective communication skills both orally and in writing
- Submit background checks
- Must have a current driver’s license
Salary and benefits package starting at $40,000. Benefits package includes participation in KPERS Retirement System, paid sick and vacation, as well as health, dental, and life insurance.
