Position Summary
The Clinical Informatics RN is responsible for performing in-depth analysis of work flows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with software and Multidisciplinary Service Line work flows for the Hospital and Clinics. Collaborates with other team members to assist in design, validation, and problem resolution related to the electronic health record. The Clinical Informatics RN is responsible for ensuring accurate functions, developing and implementing training pertaining to the staff’s use of clinical systems, and maintains the established standards of care and practice through direct patient care, clinical systems improvement activities and staff education with leading edge technology.
General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the leaders of multidisciplinary service lines and application analysts to review, develop, optimize and implement unique clinical workflows that support clinical end users.
- Collaborates with technical and clinical resources and end user groups to ensure the EHR system meets the clinical end- user needs as well as the organizations clinical and patient care needs.
- Meets with clinical end users with the dual intention of optimizing and standardizing their workflow, and developing new workflows that improve the efficiency of the clinical staff.
- Develops solutions for improved patient care and end-user efficiency; communicates solutions to identified workflows and application-based problems; ensures solutions are configured by IS staff as necessary.
- Reviews, tests and validates new application releases to ensure that new releases meet the needs of the end user and patients.
- Coordinates training and workflow with end users within hospital and clinic setting; troubleshoots problems and questions from end users and IS application teams.
- Collaborates in education and training with the EHR for employees and students.
- Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Current Professional Licensure Required
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Certification/Licensure Requirements
- Current IL RN License Required
- BLS Required
Experience Requirements
- Acute Care Nursing minimum 3 years Preferred
- Clinical Informatics minimum 1 year Preferred
Computer Skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
